Christmas is a time of giving and blessing others. Every year it is our wish to bring a Christmas blessing to families in the villages. This year we were able to do so again because of a gift of the Triodos bank in the Netherlands. We gave a gift to 60 families and the last couple of days, Andrew and Simon have been very busy to distribute them in the villages. The Christmas blessing contains mostly food items, like rice, brown beans, posho (maiz flour), oil, tea, sweets for the children and this year everybody got 6 cups and 6 plates from strong plastic.
We tried to call some families, to come to a certain point in their area where they could receive their gift. Some where picked by their grand parents, their uncle or auntie. They were all very happy and gratefull.
On the second picture , you see Elijah with his grandmother. Elijah was born in Soroti hospital and his mother died after the delivery . His mother was still very young. Elijah had clup feet and the doctor asked us to take Elijah in Amecet to be able to work at his feet. The family lived deep in the village, they would not be able to come every week to the hospital. We took him in and every week we went with him to the clup feet clinic, where they put new plaster on his feet to slowly bend the feet in the right position. After the plaster he got special shoes with breeces. And after maybe 6 months he could go back to his grandmother, who we showed how to do the exercises. We included the family last year in the group we could give them a goat and today, when Andrew brought the Christmas gift to them, they showed him very proudly their goats!! They multiplied !!! From the one we gave, they have now 4!! Behind them you can see the family graves, Elijah's mother has been burried there as well. We are so excited that this family has been taken good care of the goat and they might sell some of them and buy a cow...
We are thank full for people and organizations who want to partner with us and enable us to bless those families who are living deep in the village, to encourage the grandmothers who are looking after their grandchildren and to encourage the children to grow up and go to school..
