When the rains are coming, people start to plough their gardens.... After a couple of months of drought, the land is dry and sandy, but even after one good rain shower, the new grass is coming out and when you thought that there was nothing growing, it was all dry and soil, you are every time again so surprised what there is all hiding in the ground... The ground is green again and the plants are growing....
We have a number of families, who are really struggling. They are ploughing their garden, but they don't have money to put the seeds in. They hope there will be a little money, to buy some seeds and grow crops to feed their families. Years ago we started to give out seeds to those families, so they would be able to feed their children. We shared it with our supporters and money was given to help those families. We first contact them to ask which seeds they would like, we don't want to give them seeds they would not plant. We buy the seeds, pack them in kilo's and we are driving to the villages to give them out to the families.
All the families are known by us, there have been children or grandchildren of them staying in Amecet. We know their situation and we know that they really need help and will plant the seeds they receive.
This year we were able to give them: groundnuts, green grams, cowpeas, maize and beans. We also gave them fertilizer and explained them how to use it when they are planting the seeds. Andrew was the person to call everybody and to buy the seeds and he and Simon brought them to the villages to distribute them to the families. The people were so thankful and happy to receive them, they know it means that they will have food to feed their family.
And we are happy that we were in time, just before the rains started to pour down....

The gardens of the families are mostly close to where they live, their houses (huts) are surrounded by their gardens.
Sometimes people hire a garden or they can use someone's garden which is not used. Most of the people live from their gardens.
Andrew and Simon drove quite some kilometres to deliver the seeds. They divided the list of families, who are living all over Teso, in the different districts around Soroti.

You can see the joy on their faces, we pray that their will be a good harvest and we are thankful for the gifts we received, to make this happen.
