In the blog from November 3, 2024 I wrote about the 3 mini baby's we got in one week. It was quite a challenge, in the beginning we had feed them every 2 hours by NG tube, we had them together in one room, doors and windows closed, so it would be a nice warm room. We were very alert for sickness and how much they drank every day, how much they were gaining etc.
But what a joy, when they can be given back to their families after only 2,5 months!! Healthy, strong, smiling and drinking very well!!! Forgotten are all the worries we had about them, the busy nights, where only 2 staff members are working and were still able to do the 2 hours feeding and feed all the other children as well!!
The top picture is James, he came as a small preterm baby of 1.455 kg, and 2 months later he goes home as a baby of 3,5 kg. and is doing so good. It makes us all so happy, that is why we are doing what we are doing!!!
Janet Rose was the smallest, and the oldest baby, her weight was only 1.3 kg, while she was 5 weeks old. Her grandparents came to get her. They were very happy to receive her back. They will be caring for Janet Rose, since the mother is not able to because of a mental illness.
Janet Margaret was 2 weeks old when she was brought to Amecet in November. Her weight was 1.7 kg. Her mother had also a mental problem, her father is unknown. She was malnourished, but picked up very fast. She was almost 4 kg. when she went home.
The grandmother will care for her, and she really loves her grand daughter
James was only 3 days old when he came in Amecet. His mother, was very sick of cancer when he was born, she died some days later.
It took James some time to be strong enough to drink himself, but he went home with his auntie very strong, as you can also see on the picture above. The auntie will help the father to care for James.
And then we have more happy news:
Steven was found abandoned on the floor of a latrine in May 2024. It took time to trace for his family, we didn't succeed , so through the Probation Officer, Police and our Social workers, a foster mother was found, who is over joyed to have Steven as her adopted son in the future
Kokas was brought in the beginning of November by his grandparents. His mother (22 yrs.) died after giving birth, she never told them who the father was.
We were happy to help the grandparents, who not only lost their daughter, but also had suddenly to care for a new born baby.. I love this elder couple who were happy to received their grandson back and we prayed for them that Kokas will bring them much joy and happiness..
What would we do without the grandparents???? I thank God for them, they are such a blessing for those little children. I pray that they will live long lives, that God will grant them good health and happiness with the children!!
We are happy for what we could do for them, give them a start, sometimes help with seeds or practical help, but they are the ones who are doing the big work!!
I am happy to bring some good news in this blog, after the sad ones before . This helps me to go on to see the smiling faces when other children are sick or even die. I am grateful for your prayers for this special Ministry. please keep on reading our blogs and stand in prayer with us.
