Emmanuel got a future....

Emmanuel, or Emma as he is called here, has a new mammy, who loves him already, she wants to care for him and she wants to raise him as her son!!

The new mother has no children, that is why her husband divorced her, and she is living alone but had a desire to have a child to raise as her own. And today her wish came through, she received her new son.....Emmanuel.

On 28 of July 2024 a little boy was brought by the police, he was found at the road side all by his own. We think he was maybe 1 year and 3 months old. He was looking miserable and a bit angry. he didn't want to eat at first and was vomiting a lot. But he picked up and soon we saw him smiling and playing. We took him to the doctor, he was HIV- and had malaria, but that was treated, and he was doing good.

He was naughty, but all boys his age, should be naughty... He was not talking, but loved to play and we saw that he was really feeling for other children. If a baby was crying, he went to that baby and tried to comfort him. He is a social little boy, at the end of the day, when we bring all the toys inside, he always helps and will carry the toys inside the home.

In the meantime, is our social workers team very busy with the process of tracing the relatives. There are talks with the police of the area where the child was found. They hang posters with the picture of the child all around the area where the child was found and especially in places where many people come, like the market, police station and at the health centre. We always hope that people will recognise the child...

We go to the local radio station and let him announce, so many people hear the message, but it was all in vain... we got some leads, but when they drove out to the village to follow the up, it was all negative.

We do take time for this process; we want to try everything we can to find the relatives of the child. After this all is not working out, we get the permission of the Probation Officer to find a family who want to foster the child and later adopt the child as their own. This is also a process, the forms have to be filled, the interview has to be done, the home has to be inspected by the Probation Officer and then the mother comes several times to "bond" with the child. But it is all done and gone well, today a happy mother walked out of Amecet with her son, who was also happy waving goodbye to us when they left.

And we all feel happy, we accomplished our mission, Emma has a forever Home.....
