Tante Suus update...

This is a picture of Simon, one of our former children, he came years ago in Amecet, sick and malnourished. After some time, he was re-settled with his grandmother, we kept checking on him from time to time. Now he is with the help of our Tante Suus fund, learning how to repair motorcycles. he will be able to get a living, while he lives in the village.

We started, together with the Figurant Foundation from the Netherlands, this Tante Suus help to older youth years ago. In the beginning we helped the older children to go to secondary school. These are mostly boarding schools in Uganda. Tante (Auntie) Suus was an old single lady, who lived in the Netherlands. When she passed away, her inherency was given to the Figurant Foundation especially to help children to have the opportunity to go to school.

On this picture from 2014, are the first participants from Tante Suus programme.  We have seen several youths been able to study, while there would otherwise no chance for them to do so.

We have several teachers (preschool and primary school) there is a lab technician, we have a secretary, an ICT technician, a nurse, a welder, several tailors, several builders and several motor repair technicians.

We try to help them during their time of study and then set them up with some tools.

In 2014 we gave the first sewing machine to our first graduates in tailoring. They went to a local Life skill school in Soroti and are now able to have their own little business.

On the first picture, we see Francis , teaching the Top class in the pre school and the next picture is the graduation of Nurse Mary!!

Another three guys, Charles, John and Silver, who received their tool boxes after their course and are now able to start their business. Often they work first for some time with a motor business in their area..

We have seen a change in the way Tante Suus is helping now. In the beginning it was a lot of students in secondary boarding schools, but now we see that there is more need in hands on training, in life skills. There are several guys, who are dropping out of school, sometimes already primary school, and they need to work and learn something they like doing.  You can see how happy Simon is with the toolbox we bought for him. Pius (left on the picture) is one of our social workers and he works with them, finds the right place to go to learn from and counsel them and see that they get the things they need..

We see this ministry as a very important one, to help the youth to break the circle of poverty and to help them to believe in themselves, to finish their course and accomplish their dream.
